Integrating AI Tools Into Your Workflow: RAG Bots
How can an AI bot help your company?
While automation bots have been around for a while, GenAI has elevated their performance to a whole new level with retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) tools and agents. The advantage of RAG agents is how they implement data retrieval in real time.
Live data retrieval makes RAG assistants useful for:
Traditional chatbots use predefined decision-tree structures versus the more dynamic large language model (LLM) approach. This requires human intervention any time data is updated. RAG bots retrieve external knowledge dynamically, eliminating the need for costly, continual updating.
Organizations can leverage RAG bots for real-time analytics, enabling
fast data-driven decision-making.
For example, a supply chain company can query the bot about inventory levels, delays or shipping costs and rely on up to the minute results.
With industries that require strict adherence to compliance policies, RAG bots fetch real-time regulatory updates, ensuring that responses align with current laws and corporate policies while reducing risks.
RAG-powered chatbots provide instant context-aware support by pulling from recent customer interactions, product databases and support documents. This reduces wait times and improves satisfaction.
We built a RAG-powered assistant for our HR department
At Bader Rutter, we developed a RAG assistant to provide contextual information relevant to user queries.
Said more simply, we built a bot to answer our employees’ HR questions around everything from parking to health benefits to our 401(k)s — quickly, at any time, from virtually anywhere. After all, who among us hasn’t worried about their 401(k) in some midnight hour?
Building this virtual assistant was a relatively straightforward development task yet allowed for incredible scaling to encompass a broad range of potential queries. Our new RAG-powered assistant is also refreshingly agnostic, capable of digging into a variety of diverse data sets to find the right answer in the right context.
Now, when anyone at Bader Rutter has an HR question, they can go to the assistant first and avoid the online search rabbit holes that plague any organization with multiple silos, multiple systems and multiple sets of useful data.
The result is simple, accessible and very, very scalable.
