Bader Rutter in Select Class of Best Places to Work

MILWAUKEE — Employees at Bader Rutter (BR) have again rated it among the best places to work in southeastern Wisconsin. The business marketing services agency has ranked as a Top Workplace for the fifth year in a row, putting it among only 30 area businesses to achieve that status.

“BR is a premier independent business marketing agency because of our employees,” Bader Rutter CEO Greg Nickerson said. “It is special to be on such a select list of outstanding companies.”

BR was the highest-ranking advertising agency or marketing firm on the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel’sTop Workplaces list for 2014. The newspaper publishes the annual list in cooperation with its research partner, Workplace Dynamics, which examined survey feedback from more than 58,000 employees at 235 companies throughout southeastern Wisconsin for this year’s list.

The employee survey includes questions about direction of the company, execution, working conditions, career fulfillment, quality of managers, pay and benefits. Bader Rutter continues to rank high across these areas even as it has grown by about 100 employees, more than 60 percent, in five years.

“This recognition is so important because it highlights the agency’s dedication to creating a workplace where our people can flourish,” Nickerson said. “In a world where much is beyond your control, we realize that we can create a workplace where employees know they matter and where they’re inspired and do inspiring work.”

As part of its ongoing focus on workplace issues, BR launched a rebranding in 2013, which reflects its commitment to goals, workplace fulfillment and productivity. BR also hired a learning and development leader, Amy Sonnenberg, who is responsible for building formalized education, training and career planning.

Other new initiatives in recent months include: establishing an employee advisory council, launching a service day program, increasing the flexible use of paid time off, expanding wellness initiatives, revamping the employee review process, starting an electronic suggestion box and scheduling ongoing open mic sessions on workplace issues. The agency also started a first aid and CPR training program.
